This panting is The fall and the expulsion from paradise. Artist :The Limbourg Brothers
I find this panting absolutely beautiful! The colors, the use of shading, the way the artist portrayed Adam and Eve. The bright and yet claiming colors shine through in the castle and from God's blue coat. I wish I could of found out for sure which brother actually panted this but at the same time not knowing makes it more interesting. The detail in Adam and Eve is amazing, from the texture in their skin and the texture hair makes this panting look flawless. If you look at the panting of God his whole body is just glowing! Showing that he is the Holy Sprit.
Great choice! I have never seen this painting. The idea is so neat though, the biblical story of Adam and Eve and the circle is the Garden of Eden. This is one of those old paintings that tell the story by showing the characters multiple times to tell a story in one piece.
ReplyDeleteI like that this painting does not stay contained to the rectangular framework that was typical of this type period. It break from a standard with interesting results. It actually helps lead our eye through the narrative that is being told here.
ReplyDeleteI want to own this painting. I love when artists break away from the typical standards of their time period.

ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful painting. I love the circular composition, and the vibrant colors. This seems like an accurate rendition of what the Garden of Eden must have been like.
