The Swing
When we started discussing this in class I fell in love with this panting. I love the flirtatious girl swinging and kicking her shoe off into the woods, so innocently. Her dress I want to own and wear and swing on a swing like that one! The colors in this panting look like its at dawn and she snuck out of the house and went to meet up with boys. The colors are so bright and the way the sun shines through the trees gives the panting a innocent feeling.

The colors here are so innocent! I love the way the artist captures the light, and how they don't drown us in detail. The subtle brush strokes and color tones give us all we need. And the movement of the swing, the way her dress is flowing around her, is like a dream. I love it. Good pick, Amy!
ReplyDeleteI like this as well and although it is considered a scandalous piece, your suggestion of color choice making this an innocent feel are well said. It is interesting that a centered composition rarely works but here it does. Perhaps because she is lower on the page and the feeling of energy actually moves her across the canvas takes her out of the center.
